development slowing down

since I’ve just moved from australia back to hong kong, I have a lot of things to settle.
so development will not be as frequent as before, as I have just setup my new computer and the broadband stuff, still have a lot of things to install…

but I’m still reading the blog very often, so do post your comment and bug reports.

“Another interesting thing I’ve found, the number of reply in the forum is based on 2 things:
    1. is it a ui component?
    2. is the thread owner a moderator?”

OK, I didn’t recognize #1, but on 2: See the replies on foo_dsp_vst. This opens a whole new world, but people didn’t see this. As an opposite, see foo_uie_pm, the peakmeter. Lots of answers and demandings.
Maybe this is why peter left, it’s not his world afair…

The sad truth is, if there wasn’t the UI discussions and your plugin development, fb2k core and 3rd party development is dying. Peter has in fact disappeared, it’s unknown if fb2k is developed currently. There’s only foosion, the loyal knight ;)

People still have thousands of good ideas, but get sick of telling because of no response. There are some even very tiny things which got worse with 0.9, but there’s no one to fix…

I think the ui interface is in fact very important, if the player looks too ugly, pretty much will affect your interest of using it. therefore I will customise it, but only 1 or 2 times a year.

it seems a lot of people claiming loving fb2k either because of its better quality or flexibility against other players, while from the number of reply of some specific ui related post in the forum.. it is pathetic.
I never understand why some ui specific components will dominate the whole 3rd party component forum according to their claims.

that’s why I’ve already started to code components just based on my needs, because most people just care about ui, but I would more care about practical things.

another interesting thing I’ve found, the number of reply in the forum is based on 2 things:
    1. is it a ui component?
    2. is the thread owner a moderator?

if you look carefully, you will notice too I think

btw, I think development may be back in august.

I never understood why these people don’t just make Winamp themes instead. I would not for anything give up the great functionality that foobar and all your components offer.

BTW no one knows if the player development already stopped. FB2K: 99% of the community is all about look and feel and the domestication of the complicated panels ui.

In short: Thanks for letting us know! This is the complete opposite attitude from the black box author of fb2k, who tells exactly nothing. No one knows if he even exists. Maybe he’s just a delusion ;-)
